KBMY Billings, Montana 1240 AM
KBMY as such no longer exists. It has changed owners and calls, and while 1240 is still on the air in Billings, it is not the KBMY it once was. I worked at KBMY part time in 1964 and 1965 while a Senior in High School, and returned in early 1970 to work full time. During that time I was the engineer and also served on-the-air, was operations manager, music director, and program director. I left in the fall of 1973 to move to Boise, Idaho. This is the IGM-300 automation system that was in use in 1964 and was also utilized in part later to assist in live operation in the early '70s:
I had created my page on Air-Checks before I started this page on KBMY. There are a lot of KBMY air-checks and other KBMY audio on that page. I encourage you to visit the audio on that page.
When I resigned my positions at KBMY in 1973 to move to Boise, station owner and manager Howard Enstrom aired this fairwell. If you are any of the following people, or know where I can contact any of them, please let me know. I would like to include them and something about them on this site. All would have worked at KBMY in the early 70's -- Jody Wiggins Bill Hover Jeff Scowcroft John Kent s Also, if you know of anyone else that may have worked here in the early 70's, let me know. I am still trying to remember some of the names that were part of the staff then.
This picture was taken in 1965 while I was working part-time at KBMY during my senior year in high school. More about that can be found here.
The following pics were taken during some KBMY remote broadcasts.

John Kent again ....
Mike Fisher
Mike Fisher broadcasting from inside the big tent at the Fairgrounds during the fair. We moved our entire 24 hour operation to the fair for an entire week that year. He is using a home-brew console built specifically for remotes.
Lonnie Bell. Lonnie is still on the air in Billings. Lonnie is a true American Icon of Country DJ's.
