I'd spend more time here...
In one of the prettiest parts of Idahio, I am lucky to have 13 acres. In the not-to-distant future, I hope to build a home here and retire. In the meantime, we spend as much time as we can, each year adding a little more to our "campsite" to make it easier to spend time here, enjoying some of nature's wonderful offerings.
The bridge spans a stream that runs through the property. This little creek offers several wonderful fishing spots for the grandkids, as well as a cool place to wade on a hot afternoon.
A look at the meadow across the bridge from camp. This is a spot where one often finds a deer in the evening. It also provides added space for tents and campers when other family members join us.
Above camp a few miles, looking back toward camp, we find ourselves looking down on a rainbow.
Further up, just a scenic view.
After visiting the camp during the winter in 2006, I took this picture of the valley below the camp. Even in the chill of the winter, nature shows it's beauty.
Looking toward camp, again in the quiet beauty of winter. Camp is about at the center of the picture, nestled in the trees.
As I said early, each year we try to make some additions that make camping more comfortable. In 2008 we added this solar water heater. It is filled each morning, and through the day the heat of the sun will heat the water to a very nice temperature for a shower. The barrel is just high enough to provide a nice flow to the shower we built down by the creek. Turn on the faucet and have a nice, warm shower. Several showers actually only use about 1/2 of the available warm water.
A view of the shower itself. Ah, yes, all the comforts of home.
